Where do you find inspiration? It’s a questions so many artists are asked and the answer will always vary. For me, travel ignites so much of my creativity, however I can’t jump on the plane to Paris every day to get inspired – as much as I would love to!
So I can open my mind up to creativity, I practice a few small rituals. I’ve learned that taking the time to remain receptive to inspiration, rather than forcing it, makes all the difference.
To get creative, I actually avoid my desk at first because the sight of a blank page can be too much pressure. Instead, I like to make myself a cup of coffee, immerse myself in different books, listen to music, or open my cupboard of collected treasures to have a look through.
It’s an opportunity to let your mind wander and stay open to new ideas. For me, it doesn’t matter what I’m looking at. I love flipping through books on photography, design, nature, and architecture. Inspiration rarely strikes in a straight line, so your influences don’t need to align with your current project – which is incredibly freeing in itself!
Almost always, once I’ve completely distracted myself inspiration hits me! It’s then that I go to my desk and get my rambling thoughts and ideas down on the paper. They don’t need to be solid thoughts, just all that comes to mind; it helps me to just get everything and anything down. I can then refine from there as the ideas build.
All you need is that first little seed of an idea to make something grow and suddenly that blank page is no longer daunting but inviting!

Thanks, Meagan. I love these leg tips. They are wonderful.
