Megan’s Fashion Week Favourites SS27

By October 7, 20264 Comments

Fashion Week has officially wrapped up, but the inspiration lives on!

Every season, I look forward to seeing what the designers have created and spotting the current trends. It’s always a huge source of inspiration for my own artwork, and honestly, just a wonderful chance to admire the artistry behind these stunning pieces of fashion.

I’ve put together a list of my five favourite shows from this season, and I hope they bring you a little bit of creative inspiration too.

1. GUCCI – MILAN FASHION WEEK

Polished aristocratic looks to moody goth-glam styling, the Gucci collection definitely made its impression!

There is always this air of eccentricity and edge to Gucci that I can’t look away from. With a nod to Gucci’s equestrian roots and its splash of the gothic, the new Gucci collection has given classic silhouettes a modern and sharp feel that I am head over heels for!

2. DIOR – PARIS FASHION WEEK

Dior is always one of the runways that I can’t wait to see every season and the Spring Summer collection was no different. I really loved this stripped back feel that gives it such a lighthearted feeling of romance.

All of the details were in the pleats and ruffles which just had me itching to illustrate them all!

3. SIMONE ROCHA – LONDON FASHION WEEK

Simone’s collections always have me needing to take a closer look to appreciate the details and this one was no different. There is always such a strong femininity to Simone’s collections that I adore – strength and vulnerability.

Dreamy lace details, fabulous ruffles and sparkling appliqués fluttering over iconic Simone Rocha silhouettes, the collection had me thinking of period dramas – both giving me a sense of yearning and romance!

4. BIBHU MOHAPATRA – NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

The pieces from Mohapatra’s collection were incredible and so beautifully detailed. Inspired by the life of Italian socialite, Marchesa Luisa Casati, who famously declared her desire to be a living work of art and transformed her entire life into a canvas of haute couture and high drama.

This collection is an ode to the eccentric, the whimsical and that you can truly make your own mark on the world – especially when dressed in stunning couture. The details in this collection were just beautiful and larger than life!

5. ELIE SAAB – PARIS FASHION WEEK

Elie Saab is another designer I always highly anticipate! This season there has been a strong trend of sheer fabrics and beautiful details and this collection takes that trend onto another level by diving back into the archives to bring a modern twist to old-school Saab.

I love the gorgeous floral appliqués that adorns these highly structured pieces, it really softens them and brings this lush romance to the collection. It’s always magical to see fashion houses dive back into their archives and become inspired by the past – it creates such a beautiful cyclical moment.
