Must see & do in London with Megan Hess

London has such a special place in my heart. When I was 20, I packed everything up and moved to London. It was in London that my eyes opened to all the creative opportunities out there in the world and I realised that my love of drawing could actually be my profession. I have so many wonderful experiences in London since; sketching live for Christian Dior couture, being commissioned by Harrods of London to create a bespoke bag collection for the iconic British department store and, of course, all of the incredible events I’ve been able to attend throughout each and every book tour!

Stay – I am fortunate enough to be the Global Artist in Residence for the renowned Oetker Collection – the finest Masterpiece hotels. One of their hotels is the iconic Lanesborough Hotel – the epitome of regal elegance! It is truly the most beautiful hotel in all of London and each time I am there I am astounded by it’s historic beauty and grandeur. I feel like I am being transported to a world of utter charm and sophistication that I have never experienced before.

Eat – When I think of London restaurants I think Sketch London in Mayfair. The pink, velvet clad interior is something dreams are made of with food to match! The high tea is something not to be missed – I’m salivating just thinking about it.

Shop – London, undoubtedly, has AMAZING shopping. From Kings Road in Chelsea to Portobello Road Markets to Harrods Department Store in Knightsbridge – there is truly something for everyone’s taste.

See – One of my favourite places to visit in London is the National Portrait Gallery. It’s home to some of the most historically iconic portraits in the world including one of my favourite pieces, Queen Elizabeth I by Marcus Gheeraerts.
