Deciding on art for your office is much like choosing artwork for any other room in your home as you can decide by colour, mood and/or the decor. However, there is something else you may want to consider! As it’s an office, you will be spending a lot of time in it and you want to enjoy it, as well as feeling productive. An art piece, or two, is an easy yet effective way to add something unique to your space!
And if a coworker happens to comment on something fabulous hanging on the wall during your next Zoom meeting, all the better!
TONE AND MOOD
Creating the right atmosphere for your office is key! To begin, you will need to know what tone you want to set. If your work is very fast paced and you need calm in your working environment, opting for cooler tones or picking artworks that aren’t busy is a great place to start!
If you prefer more vibrant and dramatic works, choose something that is bolder – such as works featuring reds or multiple colours. Colour impacts our mood and using it to help narrow down your choices will help create the right atmosphere for your work space!
Light blues and greens are perfect for creating a relaxed ambience while orange and red can really energise a space! You can always opt for a mix, but thinking of the mood you want to set can really help with narrowing down your choices based on how an artwork makes you feel!
If you aren’t sure what colour to go for or prefer more neutral tones, you can also opt for black and white artwork. These always have a sense of elegance and charm that don’t overwhelm the space and it also means it’s easy to fit into the rest of your office decor.
WHERE TO HANG
In an office there are many places you can place artwork such as above the desk or opposing walls, on other furniture or on the desk itself. Depending on how big your space is, you may be able to have a few different pieces in the room!
If you aren’t able to hang artwork on the wall, leaning a large piece against the wall or placing a smaller framed work on your desk is an easy and simple way to make your mark!
Above the desk or any empty spaces that feel a little bereft are a great place to add in some art. Again, you want to keep in mind the atmosphere and the tone you want to set alongside the rest of your decor!

STAY INSPIRED
My own studio space is filled with my artwork as well as fashion photographs as I find it inspiring to be surrounded by what I love and what I do! But that doesn’t mean you have to pick prints that are related to your work.
Choosing pieces that inspire and keep you motivated are the best picks! You want to love the space you are working in, so picking pieces that resonate with you are always going to be a winner!
BONUS TIP
Adding flowers or plants is always a great addition to an office as they help with boosting your mood! Candles and other scented decor such as humidifiers are also another way to compliment the rest of your decor and create a relaxing atmosphere.
